LENT COURSE 2013
BECOMING A CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS, A GROWING CHURCH
A Church Without Walls is a church that seeks (1) to remove unnecessary barriers that may hinder people from being attracted into our church, and (2) that becomes very intentional about going out to serve where people are in the world.
May God also speak to each of us as we listen to him during these weeks of Lent 2013.

Holy Spirit More
Francis Chan
‘Holy Spirit More’ is a course that is designed to help you deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Reflecting on His power to work in and through you, we will look at various bible passages and discuss issues that may arise, seeking to understand how He works in our present age. We need to open ourselves to allow more of Him and His power to work in our lives. Before you start, ask yourself if you really want to be changed. Studying the most powerful being imaginable is bound to make you uneasy about certain aspects of your life. It is impossible to encounter the Holy Spirit of God and not be changed.

2012 Vision Lent Series
Mike Skevington
Our 2012 Vision Lent Series is a seven-week course that explores the essence of our new vision: “To stay ROOTED in our unchanging God as we SERVE a changing society.”
Our vision is based on a principle of managing tensions. In the church we often find that there are diverse and opposing views and in certain situations, the mistake that we can make is to treat these views as "either/or" or "right and wrong" and make a choice between one or the other. Instead, what we need to do is treat these views as "both/and" acknowledging that they both hold merit and should therefore be retained and held in tension.

The Land Between
Jeff Manion
In this five-week series based on the book The Land Between, we will look at the biblical story of the Israelite’s journey through the Sinai desert as a metaphor for being in an undesired, transitional space. After enduring generations of slavery in Egypt, the descendants of Jacob travel through the wilderness (“the land between”) toward their new home in Canaan. They crave the food of their former home in Egypt and despise their present environment. They are unable to go back and incapable of moving forward.

Simple: Studies in Mark
Andy Stanley
Simple: Studies in Mark is a six week series based on the teachings of Jesus, as recorded in the Gospel of Mark. In a time when religious leaders and a religious system made it increasingly complicated to connect with God, a teacher appeared whose message was profoundly... simple. Jesus arrived on the stage of world events and announced that God’s intent was to connect with, not confuse, mankind. To those who were considered most distant from God, Jesus offered this simple invitation, “Follow Me.” People who accepted his offer found themselves captivated by an extraordinary faith leading them to adopt a lifestyle that turned the world upside down.

What is a Christian?
Mike Skev
The NT also gives us a number of pictures of what it means to be a Christian.
• A child of God which refers to our intimate relating with God
• A slave of God which refers to our total owning by God
• A servant of God which refers to our practical working for God
•A steward of God which refers to our responsible using of the provisions and gifts of God
Our four week small group study for November will look at these four pictures of what a Christian is from a NT perspective.
