Young People's Church (YPC)

Babies to Grade 7

Children are a blessing and a gift from the LORD (Psalm 127:3)

Our Young People’s Church (YPC) runs on Sunday mornings during the 8:30am service in the hall and various classrooms.

As a Church we feel that it is important for us to worship together as a family. For this reason, we will be changing the structure of Young People’s Church.

The Young People will begin the 8:30am service in church with their families, grandparents, guardians or a responsible adult. This is to encourage families to worship together and to help our children and young people grow to become familiar with and appreciate worship services in church.

If young children don't know the words to songs, do feel free to get them a flag to wave, and people are also free to use the aisles, back and front areas of the church for movement in worship times.

After the confession, the children and young people in the Bible class will leave and go into the Hall, pre-school classrooms and Youth House for their age-appropriate lessons. They will remain there till the end of the service.

Should you especially want your child to receive communion every week, please collect your child before the communion prayer of thanksgiving begins so that your child can join with you for the whole of the act of communion.

It is our intention that all children and young people will be at communion once a month at the All Age Worship services.

Our young people are divided into various age appropriate groups:

  • Babies (0-2 years) go down to the crèche, where our full time helper and volunteers look after them;
  • Grades 0, O0 and R meet in the pre-school area for lessons, craft and games;
  • Grades 1 and 2 start off in the hall and then move down to the pre-school red room for lesson time.
  • Grades 3,4,5 and 6 meet in the hall for worship, lesson, group time and craft;
  • Grade 7 and older meet down in the Youth House for Bible lessons and small group time.
  • Our prayer is that all our young people will be given an opportunity to discover Jesus and know his presence in their lives.

    If you find yourself out of school or in the twenty something age gap and want a place where you can connect with other students, learn about how incredible Jesus really is, eat some tasty biscuits and laugh at bizarre jokes, then this is the place for you to be on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00pm (Vicky’s place – 9 Regent Place).

    Above Ground

    We believe that Jesus is about so much more than just our church attendance and Bible reading. He is about life and giving it to us in the full. We watch movies together, chill at the pub, go watch soccer (and other sports); have breakfast together and other cool activities and shenanigans!

    Mum's Group

    Mum's & Children

    We are an informal group of mums with babies and young children. Some of us are stay at home mums, some of us have flexible work. We meet alternative weeks for bible study mornings (bring your Bible, note book and babies) and afternoons for tea, chat and fun with older kids too.

    We hope to be a support to each other, pray and encourage.
